About Volcano Percussion
Volcano Percussion is named for its location being only 75 miles from an active volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii.
The mission has been to create drums to surpass all drums anyone has ever seen, heard or played. This interest stemmed from a lifelong passion for the conga drum as well as dissatisfaction with mass produced drums.
Starting in 1995 we began researching and developing drum sizes and sound coordinates including creating custom stainless hardware for what was to be today’s Volcano Percussion congas. Since then, V.P. Hawaii has expanded their variety of percussion instruments and produce hundreds upon hundreds of drums that span the globe today. In 2004 they were bestowed Hawaii’s highest award for musical instruments, the Hawaii Forest Industry Association Best Musical Instrument Award.

We would like to say "Mahalo" (Thank you) to Mr. Sonny Cruz the webmaster (timbalero) and co-creator of this masterpiece of a website. Without his artistic talent and technical knowledge we at Volcano Percussion would not have been able to present properly to you the public our Exotic drums.
They say, "that pictures are worth a thousand words" and most of the photo journalism seen within our site is accomplished by and thru the undying work and friendship of Nolan and Donna Empron of Honolulu, our Pacific representatives. They've been with us where ever we go and sometimes without us, since our inception. Mahalo!
Another "Mahalo" to Michael Gallichio for his untiring contributions to Volcano Percussion as Mid-West representative doing Annual Drum Festivals, videos, sound bites and journalism thru his Conga Club forum.
Acknowledgement and a big "Mahalo" is in order for the Fine sound bites heard on our Home page. One is called "Ritmo Yambu" written by Bobby Matos and performed by himself on conga, Robertito Melendez-conga , Chembo Corniel-Tumba, Phoenix Rivera-drums and Jud Matos-checkere. The other solo bite is an excerpt from Johnny Congas video produced for us. You'll see this legendary artist all over our website. All bites are examples of the sounds of Volcano Percussion tumbadoras.
Much love to all, VP Hawaii
